- While growing up, Dot wanted to be an astronaut, a
singer, an actress, and a doctor.
- Dot moved around a lot during childhood, due to her
father being in the Air Force.Among the places she lived include Guam, England, Kansas,
and New Mexico. Dot studied dance (tap and ballet) while in England.
She was scheduled to perform for the Queen of England,
but her father was transferred before the performance.
Dot's nickname (given by Olympic head coach Ralph Raymond)
is "Tiger".
- Dot has a scar on her right foot from childhood. She
cut it on a sickle, not allowing her to go to an all-star
tournament. Instead, she went to an Orlando Rebel Instructional
League. The following year she became the bat girl for
the Rebels. The next year, at age 13, she became the youngest
player ever to play in the Women's Majors.
- Dot played basketball for UCLA her freshman and senior
year.
- Dot considers her greatest moment in sports to be hitting
the game-winning homerun to win the gold medal in the
1996 Olympic Games, the year softball debuted.
