Dr. Dot
Dot Richardson, M.D., is the medical director of the USA Triathlon National Training Center, a part of South Lake Hospital in Clermont Fla., and Vice Chairman of The President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.
Dot has been medical director of the center since coming to Clermont in October 2001. This one-of-a-kind campus serves local residents, state, national and international athletes to improve health and enhance performance. With 50 MDs on staff, the center features some of the region’s most prominent doctors, physiologists and specialists and combines health, education, wellness, rehabilitation, and sports science/training programs.
Dot is also the Vice Chairman of The President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, a major component of President Bush’s “Healthier US Initiative.” As Vice Chairman, Dot works with former NFL star and Council Chairman Lynn Swann, along with other distinguished council members, including LA Dodger's shortstop Nomar Garciaparra and Emmitt Smith of the Dallas Cowboys. The Council advises the President and the Secretary of Health and Human Services on how to encourage more Americans to be physically active and participate in sports and to raise awareness of the health dangers of obesity.
Dot received her M.D. from the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. She earned her master’s in Exercise Physiology at Adelphi University and her bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Pre-Med from the University of California Los Angeles.
